A joyful Christmas at Sherwood House
Pavlina is our Assistant Manager and has worked at Sherwood House for 18 years. She has many fond memories of working in our care home over Christmas. Here's what she has to say;
"Christmas is a joyful time of year at Sherwood House. Our colleagues and residents all bring festive cheer and the atmosphere is delightful.
"I especially enjoy listening to our residents reminisce about their Christmases and seeing their happy faces as they spend precious time with their loved ones.
"Cindy our Head Housekeeper decorates the home for the festive season, we have four Christmas trees and lots of decorations. Food, drink, music and activities all make our festive celebrations. The chefs are particularly busy in the kitchen throughout the season to ensure everyone indulges in their favourite treats.
"I personally enjoy working over Christmas as the atmosphere is so relaxed and fun. It's very rewarding and uplifting. We started the build up to Christmas in November with a range of activities, from Christmas crafts to carol singing.
"On Christmas Day I bring my son along to join in the celebrations. He will just chat away to any of them about anything! Seeing them with the biggest smiles on their faces is what Christmas is all about – happiness, joy, acceptance and family.
"The residents are like my extended family. I am so excited to come on Christmas morning to wish them all a Merry Christmas. I would also like to wish all friends and family a wonderful, healthy and prosperous New Year."
