Meet Support Worker Stephanie

Stephanie joined Sherwood House in 2005 and is dedicated to delivering person-centred care. Practical and inclusive in her work, she never makes assumptions and always consults the residents on their needs.

Here’s what Steph had to say “I have been a carer since the age of eight as my mum went blind and had very complex needs. When I left school I went to work in a shop and a factory but after I had children I decided I missed working in care. I love working with the residents, they are like family. I would do anything for them.”

Steph recognises that when an older person moves into a care home they’re entering a new phase in their life; one not everyone feels confident about. Steph’s sensitive and empathetic approach helps ease those initial worries.

She believes that every resident contributes enrichment to the home. Spending time getting to know them, she ensures that this new life chapter is safe, comfortable and rewarding.

She’ll often be caught working well beyond her agreed hours, and often spends her personal time shopping for residents and volunteering to escort them to medical appointments.

Steph’s a natural at building trust with residents and families and we feel privileged to have her working here at Sherwood House.
